Our Partner Schools
Teach Western Mass was founded by Holyoke Public Schools, the Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership, and UP Education Network. Several local charter schools have recently joined our partnership including Baystate Academy Charter Public School, Springfield Prep Charter School, and Veritas Prep Charter School.
In our schools, you’ll learn, grow, and build a rewarding career alongside a team that shares your commitment to our students. Teach Western Mass partner schools are seeking exceptional teachers for the 2018-19 school year.
Each school reflects the unique community it serves in Western Massachusetts. You can access a full list of open opportunities here.
Holyoke Public Schools
Led by Receiver Dr. Stephen Zrike, Jr.—a former teacher, principal, and district administrator—we are in the midst of a major turnaround driven by the belief that all children deserve an excellent education.
We believe that the ones who know their students best should be driving the change, so school-based teams make decisions for their schools. Our teachers have the freedom to make data-driven decisions about curriculum and instruction that are best for their students.
Because teachers are driving so much of the Holyoke turnaround plan, we're looking for exceptional educators to be partners in change.
Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership
We're an educator-led partnership whose goal is to improve student achievement at nine middle schools and one high school in Springfield, Massachusetts. We hope our work can provide a national model for addressing the challenges unique to middle school education.
Each school in the Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership creates its own turnaround plan, tailored to meet the needs of its students. Teachers are instrumental in the process of creating these plans: An elected group of teachers works closely with the school administration to make important decisions.
We recognize the value of great teachers, which is why we offer master teachers with five years of classroom experience the opportunity to serve as instructional models and earn additional income.
UP Education Network
We are a nonprofit school management organization whose mission is to rapidly transform chronically underperforming district schools into extraordinary schools that sustain high achievement over time.
In fall 2016, we launched UP Academy Kennedy in Springfield.
Each UP Academy is co-led by a principal who oversees the instructional activities and a Director of Operations who oversees the operational functions. The principal and Director of Operations work with our Talent team to recruit and hire world-class educators and support staff for our schools. We are committed to recruiting talented individuals from a wide range of backgrounds to join our mission-driven team.
Baystate Academy Charter Public School
We are a college preparatory school that combines challenging academic standards with professional health career settings to prepare 6th – 12th grade students in Springfield to be inspired leaders in the twenty-first century workforce.
Baystate Academy focuses on student excellence in three core areas: mastery of knowledge and skills, character, and high-quality work.
Our approach to curriculum makes standards come alive for students by connecting learning to real-world issues and needs. Our classrooms are alive with discovery, inquiry, critical thinking, problem solving, and collaboration. Teachers talk less and students think more. Lessons have explicit purpose, guided by learning targets for which students take ownership and responsibility.
Libertas Academy Charter School
We prepare students in grades 6-12 to succeed within the college of their choice and to be positive, engaged members of their communities by providing rigorous academics, character development, and strong support for every learner.

We provide a desirable place to work, develop as a professional, and build a career in urban education. Because we will be growing each year, there will be be opportunities for professional growth as well.
Phoenix Charter Academy

At Phoenix, we know that great learning begins with great leaders. This means that we work to find exceptional teachers, fellows, social workers, and staff members who live and breathe our mission of sending high-risk youth to college. We provide unprecedented opportunities for our studnets, and we provide unique opportunities for our staff as well.
