Our Partner Schools
Teach Western Mass was founded as a joint venture of Holyoke Public Schools and the Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership to attract, prepare, and retain high-quality educators for Western Massachusetts. Each of these partners have taken specific steps to ensure that teachers have more input into school-level decisions and more opportunities for professional development and growth. We are joined by local charter schools in Springfield like Libertas Academy Charter School.
Historical Partners also include Veritas Prep, Baystate Academy, Phoenix Charter Academy-Springfield, and MLK Charter.
Each school reflects the unique community it serves in Western Massachusetts.

Springfield Empowerment Zone Partnership
A unique partnership between the Springfield Public Schools, the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, and the Springfield Education Association teachers union, SEZP serves more than 5,000 students in 16 middle and high schools that it operates across the city. It was established in 2015 to accelerate equitable student outcomes at chronically underperforming schools in Springfield. Neither a charter school network, nor state takeover, nor in-district turnaround strategy, SEZP created its own innovative model that combines autonomy with support and accountability — and the results are empowering.
Libertas Academy Charter School
Libertas Academy prepares students in grades 6-12 to succeed within the college of their choice and to be positive, engaged members of their communities by providing rigorous academics, character development, and strong support for every learner.
